Every legend in the Englandbear workshop has an origin story, but few are as personal and joyful as the journey of our scruffy-furred companion, Bam Bam. If you have been following our story, you might recognise this wide-eyed, loyal friend. Today, I want to open up the archives and share his wonderful evolution from a simple piece of paper to a champion of inclusive storytelling.<\/span><\/p>

The Origin: A Wedding Conversation Starter<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

\"Sketchbook<\/u><\/a>Bam Bam's story actually begins long before the Englandbear workshop was founded. In 2019, my brother Dave\u2014known to our circle as The Scriptorium Artist\u2014hand-painted a whimsical menagerie of woodland and farmyard animals. These original watercolour paintings were created specifically for a wedding breakfast, designed to sit on the tables and place name cards to act as gentle, quirky conversation starters for our guests.<\/span><\/p>

Bam Bam was one of those original characters\u2014a scruffy, lovable dog who captured the authentic, imperfect charm of a traditional analogue sketchbook.<\/span><\/p>

The Digital Leap<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

\"Bam<\/u><\/a>When Dave officially joined the Englandbear business in January 2026, he began to experiment with digital drawing via Procreate. To practice his new digital skills, he decided to redraw some of those original 2019 wedding animals.<\/span><\/p>

We decided to have a bit of fun with these digitally redrawn characters, giving them costumes and distinct personalities. As Dave explored the digital canvas, Bam Bam evolved right alongside him, embarking on several wild adventures.<\/span><\/p>

A Swashbuckling Pirate and a Nostalgic Sports Fan<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

\"A<\/u><\/a>First, Bam Bam set sail into our Historical Whimsy collection as a brave pirate dog. Hand-drawn to capture his spirited, inquisitive soul, <\/span>Pirate Bam Bam<\/u><\/span><\/a> sports a classic pirate hat and an eye patch, ready to set sail into your little one's imagination. You can find this adventurous character proudly displayed on our children's organic cotton t-shirts right here on the Hub.<\/span><\/p>

\"A<\/u><\/a>But Bam Bam isn't just a seafarer; he is also a dedicated sports fan! We stepped back into the golden era of British sports to create the Twickenham rugby dog. Wearing a traditional white shirt proudly bearing the iconic \"Twickenham\" name, this iteration is a charming tribute to the stadium's historic legacy before its 2024 renaming. This nostalgic, retro sports design is available on our <\/span>men's organic cotton t-shirts<\/u><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>

The Golden Years: Low Vision Awareness<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>

\"Elderly<\/u><\/a>Of all his adventures, my absolute favourite is Bam Bam\u2019s most recent evolution. As the years have passed in the real world, we decided that our loyal companion should grow older, too.<\/span><\/p>

Stepping into a beautiful digital evolution within the 2026 Animalcore movement, Bam Bam now proudly sports stylish dark glasses and confidently holds a white cane. Our senior Bam Bam has become a quiet champion for low vision awareness, representing the power of inclusive storytelling and celebrating the blind community. It is incredibly special to see how this human-made art retains its wonky, joyful energy while reminding us to champion a world where everyone belongs.<\/span><\/p>
